Slovenian Defence Minister Matej Tonin of the New Slovenia (NSi) party is to temporarily take over the role of health minister from Prime Minister Janez Janša on Monday, news portal 24ur.com reported on Wednesday, quoting unofficial information.

Tonin reportedly already informed his closest advisors in the NSi.

However, Tonin will be leading the health ministry temporarily, meaning that ministers in this position are supposed to “rotate” until they find a suitable person to lead the ministry

The National Assembly was informed of the resignation of former Health Minister Tomaž Gantar on 18 December. At the time, PM Janša announced that he would temporarily take on the portfolio himself. Given that Gantar’s party (DeSUS) has left the coalition, it is unclear to which coalition party this department now belongs.
