There is no reason for panic among Macedonian citizens regarding the price of the electricity during the forthcoming months, said the Energy Regulatory Commission of North Macedonia, meta.mk reported.

The President of the Energy and Water Services Regulatory Commission Marko Bislimoski said that the current price of electricity will remain the same at least until December.

The price of electricity in Macedonia is determined in June each year. It remains the same until the end of December when a new call is issued to purchase electricity for the market.

To secure a stable electric energy system, it is necessary to produce additional electricity, which will require further excavation of coal from the Bitola mine.

In his address to the businessmen, president of North Macedonia’s Economic Chamber, Branko Azeski informed that an intervention import had been agreed with the government for 2 million tons of high-quality coal.

Ursula von der Leyen said at the EU-Western Balkan summit that Western Balkan nations should move away from coal production.
