Albanian political parties should be transparent on how they finance their political advertising on Facebook’s pages before next month’s election, Facebook said on Monday.

According to a statement issued by Facebook, “all electoral and political ads in Albania must come from authorised advertisers and include ‘Paid for by’ disclaimers,’ as of Thursday, as well authorised in the country, AP reported

Parliamentary elections in Albania are planned for 25 April and both biggest parties, Socialists and Democrats, submitted their electoral lists.

Post-communist Albania’s elections have always been strongly contested and frequently marred by irregularities during the campaign and on voting day, including alleged vote-buying and manipulation of ballot counts, AP added. (Željko Trkanjec | EURACTIV.hr)
