The National Vaccine Plant, currently under construction, will also be capable of producing the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced during his visit to China on Monday where he presented Budapest’s state award to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

This will be a great strategic advantage for Hungary, according to national news agency MTI.

Hungary’s foreign minister also pointed out that he had held bilateral talks with Yi for the 12th time in the last seven years, which he said showed that the two sides attach great importance to the development of cooperation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Szijjártó said that Yi had proved his friendship during the coronavirus pandemic.

Thanks to his help, “we have been able to save the lives of more than a million Hungarians by buying vaccines from Sinopharm, which would not have been possible without his help,” the Hungarian minister added. (Vlagyiszlav Makszimov | EURACTIV.com with Telex)
