Martin welcomes further EU coordination. Taoiseach Micheál Martin has supported plans to better coordinate Europe’s management of the coronavirus from the EU level, following a meeting with EU leaders on Thursday evening.

EU Council President Charles Michel had summoned leaders for talks last night to discuss the need to strengthen the collective effort to fight the pandemic.

Martin said that he welcomed the leaders’ renewed commitment to “sharing information and expertise, assessing alternative testing options, more use of track & trace and interoperability of tracker apps.”

“Action at EU level can harness expertise, deliver efficiencies of scale, and provide clarity for our citizens,” Martin added. (Samuel Stolton | EURACTIV.com)
