Polish Health Minister Adam Niedzielski has assigned a team to monitor the epidemiological situation in terms of coronavirus variants and conducting molecular epidemiological surveillance in Poland.

The team, to be led by Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska, will propose legislation to improve the tracing of variants and will be responsible for informing the health minister about the emergence of local or international variants that may pose a threat to public health.

The team will also be able to propose measures if the country’s coronavirus situation begins to worsen again.

Poland has so far administered 14 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. From Sunday, all adults will be eligible to sign up for a jab. (Monika Mojak | EURACTIV.pl)
