German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday will meet with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in the Bundeskanzleramt at 3 pm and then have a conversation with Serbian President Vučić at 5:30 pm.
This is the first time that Vučić will meet the new German chancellor. Press conferences are scheduled after each meeting on Wednesday (4 May).
According to the press office of the German chancellor, the subject of both meetings will be the harmonisation of future steps in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, bilateral political and economic relations as well as regional cooperation.
Serbia still refuses to join European sanctions against Russia, although Belgrade has publicly condemned Russia’s aggression.
The talks are also aimed at supporting the EU-led Kosovo-Serbia-Dialogue, the German government’s statement reads. Miroslav Lajčák, the EU special representative for the Western Balkans and mediator in the Belgrade-Priština dialogue, was also invited to join the talks. Lajčák will also meet Vučić and Kurti in Berlin on Wednesday evening.
