Derek Chollet, the Counsellor of the US Department of State, visited Sarajevo on Monday (15 November).

Ahead of his arrival, it was announced that Chollet would convey a strong US message that any attempt to undo 26 years of peace and progress in BiH by withdrawing from state institutions and violating the Dayton Peace Agreement would create difficulties for citizens. Additionally, it would be a significant disincentive for investors and a source of serious concern for the international community.

During the Clinton Administration, Chollet served as Chief Speechwriter for UN Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, who negotiated the Dayton agreement.

Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of the BiH’s tripartite Presidency, was in Belgrade meeting with President Aleksandar Vučić.

Vučić promised more financial aid to Serb BiH entity Republika Srpska (RS).

Vučić added Belgrade would always support the Dayton Peace Agreement and BiH Constitution, as well as their full implementation, while Dodik reiterated his stand about the RS being deprived of the competencies that belonged to it under the Dayton Agreement and that the entity would peacefully advocate for the restoration of rights and justice provided by the Constitution of BiH.
