Serbian Defence Minister Nebojša Stefanović met with his Spanish counterpart Margarita Robles in Madrid on Tuesday to discuss the development of bilateral defence cooperation, the ministry said.

“We wish for the cooperation of our two defence ministries to become more intense and to follow the quality of cooperation between our two countries in the areas of the economy and strategic issues, for which Spain offers Serbia its support, especially concerning the question of Kosovo,” Stefanović said.

“There is a significant will on the Spanish side for our cooperation to be crowned by a memorandum of cooperation in the area of the defence industry, which we would sign this year. I expect the Spanish side’s presence at our Armaments Fair in October, which will also be a good opportunity to sign this kind of an agreement and arrange concrete projects,” added the defence minister.

The Serbian minister also met Spanish military leaders and visited the Institute of Technology Maranosa in Madrid, a research and development agency of the ministry of defence. (EURACTIV.rs | betabriefing.com)
