Election winner wants to send Bulgarian astronauts to space

To most political analysts, Trifonov’s intention to help send two Bulgarians and a Macedonian into space with the help of NASA was met as a joke. [Velko Anguelov, Dnevnik]

The showman and leader of the anti-system party “There is such a people” Slavi Trifonov, who emerged the winner of last weekend’s elections in Bulgaria, presented his ideas for sending three astronauts into space, two from Bulgaria and one Macedonian.

“It’s time to look at the stars, not the Earth,” Trifonov. Work on the project could begin if the Bulgarian parliament appoints the government proposed by Trifonov.

Most political analysts greeted Trifonov’s intention to help send two Bulgarians (a man and a woman) and a Macedonian into space with the help of NASA as a joke.

The inclusion of North Macedonia in these plans comes as a surprise as the relationship between the countries is still tense, with Bulgaria still not willing to lift the veto on the European integration of North Macedonia. (Krassen Nikolov | EURACTIV.bg)
