North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Zoran Zaev confirmed on Monday he was ready to sign an annex to the Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation Treaty with Bulgaria.
Although the prime minister considers the existing treaty to be excellent, he believes an annex would rule out misinterpretations.
Zaev, therefore, clarified his previous statement, noting that appropriate tools and ways to solve issues with Bulgaria do exist, notably in the form of public statements, declarations, annexes to a treaty, and more.
These, according to the PM, should be used to explicitly emphasised that the name “Republic of Northern Macedonia” applies only to this territory and Skopje has no territorial claims on any country.
