Turkey asks North Macedonia to hand over 86 Gülen supporters

Can Dündar, who is a Turkish journalist also exiled in Berlin, tweeted that the attack was a direct message by Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who he quoted as saying,  “I have a long arm. We can attack a dissident journalist even in Berlin.” [EPA-EFE/YVES HERMAN]

Sekizkök said that a large number of Gülen’s supporters reside in North Macedonia, under the guise of educational and trade institutions.

“FETO groups remain active in North Macedonia. We raise this before the relevant North Macedonian authorities every chance we get. This is a legitimate request on our part,” Sekizkök said.

The ambassador was speaking ahead of the anniversary of Turkey’s 2016 coup attempt which the government says ways instigated by Gulen’s organisation.

Turkish government documents obtained by Nordic Monitor have confirmed that critics of Erdoğan have been spied on by Turkish diplomats in Skopje.
