Based on the available information the attack carried out in front of the government offices in central Zagreb, in which one police officer was severely hurt but survived, had elements of a terrorist act, said Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
The prime minister added that it was an act of radicalisation and the whole society needs to ask itself what has led to this radicalisation and why
“The behaviour of that 22-year-old man was impacted by the information to which he was exposed, and he was also under the influence of somebody, sources which prompted him to try to kill the policeman. We will see who is responsible for that,” said Plenković.
“We must find out why this happened. We must find the nest from which something like this started,” he added.
He also called on media actors that incite hatred to start behaving responsibly, referring to “those that incite hatred between Croatians and the Serb minority in their broadcasts.”
