Subscribe now to our newsletter EU Elections Decoded Email Address * Politics Newsletters BackgroundDuring their informal meeting in Oviedo, the 15 EU Ministers for Economic Affairs, the Commission and the European Central Bank (ECB) will be discussing the economic and economic policy situation in the Eurozone, as well as the EU message for the G7. In a separate meeting, the EU Finance Ministers, the Governors of the Member States' Central Banks of the 15 Member States, the Commission and the European Central Bank will be discussing: the spring economic forecasts for the EU and the candidate countries; the repercussions and extent of the crisis due to the collapse of the US company Enron; financial integration and its macroeconomic impact; a report on financial stability and crisis-handling in the EU (Brouwer II Report) and the degree of implementation of its recommendations; other issues, such as the EU's address to the International Monetary and Financial Committee, the role of the IMF in the restructuring of external debt, and European representation in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the G7. On 14 April, a seminar on the "private and official use of the euro as an anchor and intervention currency" has been planned.
