MEPs back EU arrest warrant and definition of terrorism

The European Parliament has backed two Council
decisions on the European arrest warrant and a common
definition of terrorism. The EU arrest warrant should come into
force on 1 January 2004, following its approval by the national
parliaments, and the legislation relating to the definition of
terrorism should be operational as from 1 January

The Parliament regretted the fact that the Council did not
consult it on the lists of terrorist organisations. MEPs
asked the Council to consult the Parliament before agreeing
any implementing measures and fully involve Parliament in
legislative procedures in the future.
