CSR Stakeholder Forum to enter final phase after November 2003

At their high-level meeting on 15 July, CSR Stakeholder Forum participants decided to plan the last wave of round tables based on a draft synthesis report to be compiled by November 2003.

Meeting on 15 July, the participants of the Multi Stakeholder
Forum on CSR agreed that they would discuss an interim synthesis
report on the findings of the first two waves of round tables at
their next high-level gathering in November 2003. This report will
identify the drivers, remaining obstacles and success factors in
CSR as identified by the four round tables (knowledge, SMEs,
transparency and development) and recorded by their respective
rapporteurs.

In addition, at the November meeting in Venice,
the participants will approve a frame for the last wave of round
table meetings, scheduled to conclude in summer 2004, deciding
whether there is a need to examine the experiences of additional
stakeholders and underlining the need to trigger both individual
and collective actions. The stakeholders will reiterate the context
of the Forum and its broad strategic goals.

The participants of the 15 July meeting agreed
that the first wave of round tables helped the creation of a
positive climate, which has enabled the better understanding of the
complexity of CSR practices by looking at actual cases.

The final synthesis report on the conclusions of
the Stakeholder Forum will be presented to the Commission during
summer 2004.
