On 16 September, Environment Commissioner Margot Wallström will launch Europe’s first-ever Mobility Week and Public Transport Day at an opening ceremony in Brussels. The Mobility Week aims to raise public awareness for sustainable forms of mobility and transport
More than 300 cities across Europe will be organising thematic events focusing on sustainable mobility during the first European Mobility Week from 16 to 22 September 2002. This Week should make European citizens aware of the damage that current mobility trends inflict on their local environment and of possible alternatives to single car use.
The Week will end on Sunday 22 September with the yearly pan-European Car Free Day.
