My wife was an immigrant and now I am one, so no I don’t think immigration was as bigger issue as there polls say it was, after all it depends where the poll was taken in order to bias the result. Federlist remainders and the EU elite love to paint the British as xenophobic racist! But I would think that most British people would concede that immigration is important but there must be an element of control somehow.
I voted last time and I voted for the EEC, a trade block. Forty odd years down the line I’ve ended up with a de facto Federal government sat in Brussels. I didn’t have any say over that what so ever, nor any of the treaties that gave the sovereignty of my country away even that those that gave it away were my own politicians! The simple reason behind my vote, and I think millions of others, was we just don’t want a full Federal government dictating over our lives. Before the referendum I felt that democracy and accountability was disappearing before my eyes and that was due to my own government and the EU Polit Bureau. I could not inflict that on my children and my grand children, it was as simple as that. I do believe in what I voted for all those years ago, a strong European trading block. But I would fight to the death to stop a European Federal Superstate and have a government sat in Brussels.

Suppression of wages, housing shortages, shortages of school places etc etc. It was never about the Poles or the Czechs or the Romanians, it was purely about the numbers and the impotence of our elected representatives to do anything about it. Cameron warned the EU that this was a big issue and they told him to get stuffed.

If Foreigners want to live in the UK they are the ones that must adjust to our way of life, if they don’t want to embrace it they can clear off to somewhere more in keeping with their sensibilities. I flew bacl specially to vote to leave, I couldn’t care less about the money or GDP it was about being able to kick out of power those that don’t govern us the way we want. With the EU we could vote one way decade after decade & we still end up with the same. EU commissioners are vetted to ensure they all share the same blinkered thought patterns of those from the past to ensure their is no deviation from the yellow brick road
