Uniting Ireland: Economically viable, or fiscal deal-breaker?

Brexit has accelerated the process towards a united Ireland, a path some see as inevitable. Uniting Ireland comes with a heavy economic price tag, and the starting price is replacing the €11bn / year subsidy from the United Kingdom exchequer. Can Ireland afford to integrate with the North? Is it politically possible? And, can it be done without violence?
