    The European Parliament this week called for the EU to introduce laws to prevent the import of commodities and products linked to deforestation and human rights abuses.

    Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias sent letters yesterday to his counterparts from Germany, Spain and Italy, pointing out the need to impose an arms embargo against Turkey.

    Former EU commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker said that he has never been in favour of sanctions as a way to solve a political problem. “But if Turkey and Erdogan do not change their behaviour, then we should impose sanctions.”
